Lanterns are believed to have originated in the days of the Ancient Eastern Han Dynasty which stood in 25-220 AD. People at that time would cover candles with bamboo frames, wood, or wheat straw and stretch silk or paper so the fire did not die in the wind. The lantern cover is often decorated with several characters or other forms. In conclusion, the beginning of lanterns is only a means of lighting so that the candles do not easily die from the wind. From time to time, the lantern has many variations of round lanterns, hanging lanterns, floating lanterns, flying lanterns up to character lanterns.
